Phases

Not Rated Yet
An application can appear and behave differently at different times during the Application Lifecycle, depending on who is viewing the application.  Here is a list of the possible phases, and when they come into play.

For example, Administrators often are able to see information that boaters are not allowed to see, and often administrators are allowed to leave fields blank that are required for the boaters.

Phase  Role Situation   Comments
Administrator "Administrator".  This is anyone who has the ability to view other people's applications, not just people in the "Administrator" security role. This phase is used when a user is not submitting their own application.   Also note that "administrators" may also have their own applications, so when they are submitting their own applications this phase is not used.
Wait List Application "Public".  This is used by the public when they submit their application, and also by "administrators" when they click the "Apply" or "Renew" buttons at the bottom of the Application Summary page.
This phase is used when someone is submitting a first-time wait list request. If users aren't allowed to submit a wait list application, this phase does not apply.

Wait List Renewal Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a wait list renewal request. If users aren't allowed to submit a wait list renewal, this phase does not apply.

Usually, the only difference between this phase and the wait list application phase is that the name fields are disabled, so that the application can't be "assigned" to someone else.
Application Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a first-time application.  This may be after being taken from the wait list, or if there is no wait list at all. If users aren't allowed to submit an application, this phase does not apply.

Usually, the application phase will request additional information that wasn't collected during the wait list application or wait list renewal phase.  If boaters go through the wait list phase, the name fields are usually disabled.
Renewal Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a renewal application. If users aren't allowed to renew, this phase does not apply.

Usually, this application is the same as the application phase, except that the name fields would be disabled, to prevent a boater from assigning their resource to someone else.
Name Change Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a name change request (such as when a woman is married) If users aren't allowed to submit a name change request, this phase doesn't apply.

The only thing you can configure on this form is which applicant fields and attachments will appear.
Applicant Change Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a request to change the applicant on record to someone else. If users aren't allowed to submit an applicant change request, this phase doesn't apply.

The only thing you can configure on this form is which applicant fields and attachments will appear.
Vessel Owner Change Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a request to change the "vessel owner" (or the secondary applicant, whatever you may call it) on record to someone else.  If users aren't allowed to submit a vessel owner change request, this phase doesn't apply.

The only thing you can configure on this form is which vessel owner fields and attachments will appear.
Vessel Change Public.  See notes above. This phase is used when someone is submitting a request to change the vessel on an application.  If users aren't allowed to submit a vessel change request, this phase doesn't apply.

The only thing you can configure on this form is which vessel fields and attachments will appear.
Location Change Public.  See notes above.  This phase is used when someone has a location assigned to them, and wants to request a new location.
If users aren't allowed to submit a location change request, this phase doesn't apply.

The only thing you can configure on this form is which wait list fields and attachments will appear.
Other Public Access Public.  See notes above.  This phase is used when someone is changing information outside of an approved application period.  Usually, this application allows the user to change their contact information and nothing else.
Inspector "Inspector".   This is used by anyone who has rights to View an Inspection, not just people who are in the "Inspector" security role.  This phase is used when someone clicks on the Inspection button on the Application Summary page.

This phase is used when someone is submitting a request to change the vessel on an application.
