Overview

This screen allows people to enter or modify information about payments from permit holders.  You can view, but you cannot change, information about payments that were made online.

Fields

Payment Date - This is the date that the payment was received from the permit holder.

Payment Amount - This is the amount of money received from the permit holder.

Payment Type - This is the method of payment, whether it be by check, cash, credit card, or online.  The "online" method is a special method that you cannot specify manually, but which is always used when a payment record is automatically added by the system.

Confirmation Number - The confirmation number is an optional field that you can use to record additional information about the payment, such as the check number.  For online payments, the confirmation number is the Google Checkout order number.

Payment Allocation - For each payment, the system records how to apply the money towards outstanding charges.  It will try to do this for you automatically, and will succeed when the payment amount equals the outstanding balance.  When the payment amount and the outstanding balance differ, however, you may need to review and alter where to apply the money.  If there was an overpayment, you can enter the amount of money that should be applied towards existing charges, and can leave the remainder as an "Other/Unknown" payment.  When the payment doesn't cover the outstanding charges, please specify how much money should applied towards each charge.

Navigation

Users can get to this screen from the Permit Summary screen, clicking the Edit button to get to the  Payments screen, and then clicking the Add Payment or Edit Payment buttons.

Security

Users can view this screen if they have been assigned Payment Add or Payment Edit rights.
