Flag

Overview

Providers can define status indicators, called "flags", that they want to use for their data.  For each of the main data tables in the Online Mooring database (applications, applicants, vessels, and berths), providers can define any number of flags.  Then the provider flags and/or unflags individual records to indicate which records have the specified condition(s).

These indicators are meant to be different for each provider.  But here are some examples of how they could be used:
- An application flag could be used to indicate when a vessel is too large for the proposed berth
- A vessel flag could be used to indicate whether excise tax has been paid on that vessel
- An applicant flag could be used to indicate someone who is banned from any future approvals because of past issues

Data Entry Fields

- Flag Name - This describes the situation that the flag represents.  Whenever the flag appears, you will be able to move your mouse over the flag and this name will appear.
- Record Type - This indicates what type of record this flag applies to.  You can choose to flag an application, an applicant, a vessel, or a berths.
- Color - When the record is flagged, the flag will appear in the color you specify.  When the record is not flagged, it will appear in a light gray color.
- Ordinal - If there are multiple flags for the same record type, this controls the order in which the flags will appear.  The flag with the lowest ordinal will appear first, and the flag with the highest ordinal will appear last.

Viewing Flags

Once you've defined a flag, and if you have rights to view the flags, you will see the flags on search results pages and on summary pages.

Flagging/Unflagging Records

If you have rights to update the underlying record, you will be able to flag or unflag that record.

Whenever you see the flags displayed, you can toggle the flag on or off by clicking on the flag.  This will bring up a small pop-up window where you can enter an optional comment.
