Tax Processing

Not Rated Yet
Online Mooring provides tools for managing the calculation and collection of taxes applicable to your products and services.

Tax Rates

Online Mooring staff maintain the list of taxes and tax rates that may be applicable, since they often are applicable to multiple harbors.  When getting started with Online Mooring, please let us know about all taxes that apply to you so that we can ensure our tax tables are set up correctly for you.

Tax Exemptions
We provide a way for you to indicate situations when a tax doesn't apply:
Provider
On the Settings page, there is a Tax Exemption field where you can select the taxes in your area that you never need to collect/pay.
Applicant
There is a field available on the Applicant form called Tax Exempt ID.  If you enter a value into this field, no tax will be charged to that applicant.
Action
On the Configuration Action page, there is a Tax Exemption field where you select the taxes in your area that don't apply to that action.
Action Itemized Fee
On the Itemized Fees page, there is a Tax Exemption field where you can specify any taxes that don't apply to a specific itemized fee for that action.

Collecting and Paying Tax

The total tax bill is displayed to the applicant on the Final Review page, or to the provider on the Application Summary page, on the Actions tab.

If the applicant pays online, they will see a line item on their PayPal invoice for each separate tax that is due.   Online Mooring will credit that tax payment toward the provider's account and will remit that tax to the provider upon Account Settlement.  The provider is responsible for paying the tax to the appropriate jurisdiction.
If the applicant pays offline, they will pay the tax directly to the provider, and the provider will be responsible for paying the tax to the appropriate jurisdiction.
