Security Features Minimize

Online Mooring has been designed from the ground up with security in mind.

Authentication
In order to use Online Mooring, users must login. Everyone can self-register to obtain a login, and can self-recover their login IDs and passwords.

Authorization
Online Mooring provides role-based security. This controls what users can view and update, based on the role that they have been assigned. Online Mooring provides a set of common security roles "out-of-the-box," but the Administrator from each community can modify these roles to meet their needs.

Users that self-register are automatically assigned to the "Public" role, so administrators only need to specify a user's role if the user needs additional rights.

Encryption
For communities that are concerned about the threat of third-parties accessing information transmitted over the Internet, Online Mooring offers the option to SSL encrypt all pages.

Auditing
Online Mooring keeps track of all changes to the information in the database, including the login ID of the user who made the change, the date the change was made, and a summary of the actual change made by the user (i.e., changed field "VesselLength" from 15 to 20).
